When Mosaic Life Care launched its interventional neurology and neuroendovascular program in January 2025, it marked a critical step in bringing complex stroke treatment locally. For patients like David Hausman, that step changed everything.
A stroke had stolen his ability to see clearly and made it hard to understand voices. A team he couldn’t fully recognize moved quickly. They were focused, trained, and ready. Months later, David returned to visit the Mosaic team on his own two feet.
“Every day is a good day. There are no bad days,” David said, emotion catching in his throat. He thanks the team again and again, insisting he can never repay them. For David, recovery was made possible by having advanced stroke care available close to home, delivered by a team prepared for the most urgent moments.
Mosaic’s program is assembled of experienced, specialized teams that provide advanced stroke care, including emergent mechanical thrombectomy for some cases. The program is supported by state-of-the-art imaging technology and a dedicated interventional suite. Mosaic offers a range of neuroendovascular procedures such as cerebral and spinal angiography, aneurysm and arteriovenous malformation treatments, and vascular stenting.
“Every minute a patient is having a stroke, they’re losing millions of brain cells,” said Abdallah Amireh, M..D.., interventional neurologist at Mosaic Life Care. “Our goal is to reduce that time as much as possible and provide fast, life-saving care for our community.”
Built on the expertise of Mosaic’s physicians, nurses, technologists, and leaders, the program combines careful planning with external collaboration. Through Mayo Clinic Care Network, Mosaic clinicians were able to team up with Mayo Clinic experts to support specific aspects of program development and clinical decision-making.
Several Mosaic nurses and interventional technologists traveled to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, to observe an established neuroendovascular program in action. The experience complemented Mosaic’s internal training by providing real-world exposure to high-volume stroke workflows. While on call throughout the week, team members observed cases from diagnosis through intervention, gaining firsthand insight into multidisciplinary communication and time-sensitive decision-making.
"This will make a huge difference for so many people in our region," said Michelle Manley, R.N., who attended the on-site visit in Rochester.
Additionally, through Health Care Consulting, clinicians have access to Mayo Clinic specialists who can review images and have collaborative discussions. This access allows Mosaic providers to seek a second opinion on complex cases while maintaining local control of patient care.
For David, advanced stroke care didn’t require leaving his community. It was there when he needed it the most. At Mosaic Life Care, that outcome reflects a carefully built program powered by local expertise and strengthened through a trusted collaboration with Mayo Clinic Care Network.
