Speakers

John Halamka, M.D., M.S.
President, Mayo Clinic Platform

John D. Halamka, M.D., M.S., leads a portfolio of platform businesses focused on transforming health care by leveraging artificial intelligence, connected health care devices and a network of trusted partners.

Trained in emergency medicine and medical informatics, Dr. Halamka has been developing and implementing health care information strategy and policy for more than 25 years.

Prior to his appointment at Mayo Clinic, he was Chief Information Officer at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, where he served governments, academia and industry worldwide. He is a practicing Emergency Medicine physician.

As the International Healthcare Innovation Professor at Harvard Medical School, Dr. Halamka helped the George W. Bush administration, the Obama administration and governments around the world plan their health care information strategies.

Dr. Halamka completed his undergraduate studies at Stanford University, earned his medical degree at the University of California, San Francisco, and pursued graduate work in bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley. He completed his residency at Harbor—UCLA Medical Center in the Department of Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Halamka has written a dozen books about technology-related issues, hundreds of articles and thousands of posts on the Geekdoctor blog. He was elected to the National Academy of Medicine in 2020. He and his wife also run Unity Farm Sanctuary in Sherborn, Massachusetts—the largest animal sanctuary in New England, which includes 300 animals, 30 acres of agricultural production and a cidery.

Bradley Leibovich, M.D.
Medical Director, Center for Digital Health Mayo Clinic

Bradley C. Leibovich, M.D., joined Mayo Clinic in 2001 and serves as the Center for Digital medical director and the David C. Utz, M.D., Professor of Urology. As medical director, he partners with Rita Khan, Mayo Clinic Chief Digital Officer to lead the Center for Digital Health. Dr. Leibovich received a B.A. in biochemistry from Cornell University, his M.D. from Albany Medical College and completed his urology residency at Mayo Clinic. Subsequently he completed a fellowship as the Mayo Foundation Scholar in Urologic Oncology, with fellowships in urologic oncology through Indiana University Medical Center and UCLA Medical Center.

Dr. Leibovich’s clinical areas of interest include renal cancer, upper tract urothelial carcinoma, and testicular cancer and has authored over 400 peer-reviewed journal articles. His awards and honors include the Andrew C. Novick Award through the Kidney Cancer Association, in recognition of significant contributions in urology for the treatment of renal cell carcinoma. In addition, at Mayo Clinic, he has been recognized with multiple awards for service in education and clinical activities including the Distinguished Mayo Clinician Award.

Dr. Leibovich is engaged in many educational activities, including teaching at oncology conferences, developing curriculum for the Department of Urology at Mayo Clinic, and providing mentorship for Mayo Clinic residents and fellows. He has served in multiple Mayo Clinic institutional administrative roles, including Mayo Clinic Cancer Center and the Chair of the Department of Urology.

Dr. Leibovich also serves on numerous professional societies and associations, including the American Association of Genitourinary Surgeons, the American Urological Association, the Clinical Society of Genitourinary Surgeons, and the Society of Urologic Oncology – Clinical Trials Consortium and serves as the Chair of the Board of Directors of the Kidney Cancer Association.

Eric Harnisch
Vice President Partner Programs, Mayo Clinic Platform

Eric Harnisch is passionate about accelerating innovation and growth through technology and global partnerships. He is responsible for developing and managing complex strategic partnerships and programs.

He works across business lines to translate strategy into actionable roadmaps and priorities with Mayo Clinic Platform's partnership network. Harnisch has a proven track record of building and maintaining successful relationships with customers, partners, teams, sales channels, and vendors.

Eric began his career at Mayo Clinic in 2016 in Corporate Development, where he led institution-wide strategic business partnerships for several foundational Digital Health programs in Mayo Clinic’s Practice, Research, and Education shields.

Prior to joining Mayo Clinic, Eric held leadership positions in Strategy, Corporate Development, General Management/Operations, and Sales and Marketing in large enterprises as well as startups. He has extensive experience using frameworks, tools, and processes to evaluate new opportunities to achieve enterprise innovation and growth objectives.

Eric holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN, and a Bachelor of Science in electrical engineering from North Dakota State University. Eric has served on several boards and is active in his community.

Jamie Sundsbak
Partnership Manager, Mayo Clinic Platform

Jamie is dedicated to working with entrepreneurs and has a passion for medical and life science innovation. He currently serves as a Partner Relationship Manager with Mayo Clinic Platform_Accelerate assisting AI Healthtech companies work with Mayo Clinic Platform. He has founded multiple companies and organizations, most recently the Collider Foundation that is dedicated to supporting local entrepreneurs in the Rochester area. He was also part of the founding team that created the Center for Surgical Excellence at Mayo Clinic and the founder of BioAM, an organization to promote entrepreneurship in the life sciences.
