How we qualify digital health solutions

Our proprietary qualification process includes evaluation from teams of world-class physicians, data scientists, and AI experts.

  • Review by expert physicians, data scientists, and informaticians
  • Evaluation for intended use, proposed value, and clinical and algorithmic performance
  • Comprehensive regulatory, security, and operational risk review
  • Technical assessment for interoperability

Mayo Clinic Platform is committed to transparently communicating important details surrounding solution development, deployment, and outcomes to potential end-users so that they can adopt these solutions with trust and confidence.

Mayo Clinic Platform’s values align closely with the Coalition for Health AI (CHAI) principles of responsible AI, and we focus on demonstrating a solution’s performance for transparency, usefulness, safety, and fairness.

Algorithm performance

A multidisciplinary team does a comprehensive review of a solution’s adherence to Responsible AI principles, performance, its maturity, and evidence supporting efficacy, fairness, and safety. This information is distilled into a transparent, standardized, and concise report and subsequently communicated to end-users.

The qualification process ensures that all claims surrounding a solution’s intended use, performance, outcomes, and limitations are supported by evidence and transparently communicated. Solutions that meet qualification criteria are included in the platform ecosystem and made available to our healthcare provider network.

We recognize that a solution’s impact may change over time and that the regulatory landscape will continue to evolve. For these reasons, solutions undergo periodic requalification, and these results are updated to ensure that changes in algorithm performance are communicated.
